Photo an Hour (Link Up!): 1/29/14

Hello, my lovely friends! Today’s the day where we all come together to share our Photo an Hour Posts. What is that, you ask? You take a photo for every waking hour in the day and then share them. If you plan to link up with Stephanie and me, make sure you link back to us or use our button.

A Photo an Hour Link-Up

So are you ready for mine? I took all of my photos on Tuesday. I had grand plans to take them all on Saturday, when I was actually out and about doing fun stuff like a blogger meetup and celebrating my dad’s birthday. But alas, you get a random Tuesday.

But folks, this isn’t just any other Tuesday. It’s a “snow day” Tuesday in Houston. School got cancelled for both Kennedy and me due to possible ice. Yes, we do not know how to handle ice and freezing conditions down here in the great city of Houston, and a “snow day” is incredibly rare. I can count on one hand how many times I’ve actually got off school since I was a young one because of cold weather. Hurricanes and flooding? That’s another story.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy my Photo an Hour: Houston “Snow Day” Edition!

Kennedy didn’t get the memo that it’s a snow day. Aren’t you supposed to SLEEP IN for those? Hence, I get mother of the year status for sitting her in bed with me and letting her play on the iPad while I snooze a little while longer. She’s reading Sandra Boynton books so it’s totally educational and  good for her. Right?

Breakfast time. Since it’s a snow day, of course I’m not going to make a nice hot breakfast. It’s a smoothie kind of morning. This one has almond milk, ground chia seeds, ground flax seeds, banana, frozen strawberries and peaches, and spinach. Delish!

0930amStill in our pajamas. Upstairs in the game room playing a bit.

1030amKennedy is not out of her pajamas. I’m still in mine. She is complaining that she “no like dress.” Too bad, kid.

1130amSEND IN THE TROOPS! DECLARE A STATE OF EMERGENCY!! THIS SNOW DAY IS TOO EPIC!!! (Please note: nothing is frozen….)

1230pmFinishing up some work in Photoshop for a post I have live today over at Houston Moms Blog, while Kennedy plays a bit more. You should go check it out! I’ve got 4 free Valentine’s Day Printables designed by yours truly.

130pmKennedy is napping. Took her nap a little early today because she was acting tired. I am sitting down with a little healthy snack and catching up on trashy reality TV (Vanderpump Rules FTW).

230pmMoved to the bedroom to continue my TV watching while adding a little Pinterest on the iPad. Gosh, I could get used to these snow days. It’s a hard knock life, yo.

330pmLittle Princess has awoken from her slumber and it’s time to do what we always do when she wakes up from a nap: read books.

430pmI’m starting to get pretty bored and a little cabin fever. Oh and did I mention I still haven’t changed out of my pajamas? Granted, I did put on a sports bra so that’s close enough to getting dressed. So I make cookies with what I’ve got in the pantry. I had bakers chocolate so I chopped it up and we’ve got ourselves some chocolate “freckled” cookies.

530pmDinner is smelling pretty good. I always like a crock pot meal on a snow day. Ya know, all 3 I’ve ever had in my life.

630pmDinner time for Kennedy. Helping her eat some organic Amy’s macaroni and cheese. It’s organic, so it’s healthy. Duh.

730pmI finally eat some of that White Chili I have a-brewin over there in the crock pot, while Greg gives Kennedy a bath. I wasn’t hungry at official dinner time (it probably had something to do with those chocolate freckled cookies) so here we are now.

830pmIt’s Bible Study time with our small group at our house! Those brave souls faced the snow-pocalypse and actually drove to our place. Please note: I STILL have not changed out of my pajamas, fixed my hair or put on makeup. Thank God for accepting small group members that love me for who I am. Even if I do wear yoga pants every Tuesday night at our bible studies. We’re currently studying Galatians.

930pmAh mah goodness!! It’s a little bitty baby!! Where did this precious boy come from? No, your eyes are not playing jokes on you. This sweet thing belongs to my friend Chelsea. He tagged along to study Galatians, too.

And I was in bed by 10:30. Snow days are exhausting. I have no idea how you people up north do it so much. I mean, yeah I guess I could get used to naps and relaxing, but I got bored.

Now it’s your turn!
Show us your Photo an Hour Posts!

I took mine on snow day, too! Looks like you and Kennedy had just as much fun lounging as I did!

I love that you documented the “snow day”!! I thought about it, but all I would have done was take pictures of all the 90’s/Trash TV I was watching… you at least got to have the day with your girl!

Thanks again for such a fun link up ma’am!!!

I’m so glad you’re doing this as a link up! I’ve always thought about doing it but motivation was lacking so this is just the thing :))
I can’t believe how frozen over and exhausting your snow day was ;P

I think one or two snow days tops is normal for any place, the difference is that it takes a lot more to get one in places that it snows often! The plows and salt trucks know what they are doing in Utah! We only had two snow days TOTAL when I was growing up. Once when I was in second grade and once in fourth… We had to get something like 8 feet for them to consider it too much to drive in 🙂

I love the Sandra Boyton books – I even know that she’s reading “But Not the Hippopotamus” in that photo. LOL. I’m so jealous of your photoshop skills. I can take a photo, but I have to rely on John for editing.

aren’t snow days the best? even if you don’t have much white (or any lol) stuff, we have tons still. Yesterday were all the local schools first day back in 9 days, they are all going to be going until July at this rate. That soup looks so good, I need to get the crock pot out and make something this weekend.

Thanks so much for hosting the link up I have had a lot fun doing it!!!

Welp, this certainly helps me out with my post today.
This also made me crave mac and cheese… and realize my food palette is, seemingly, much closer to Kennedy’s than a grown adult’s.

I love snow days. Despite our severe winters here we rarely ever get them at my job cause we are considered emergency service. So while everyone else is having pajama parties at home I’m usually making my way into work. Glad you enjoyed your snow day!!! And your dinner looks amazing!

I’m sorry I’m just now seeing this because I would have loved to have done this. I think it’s such a great idea to stop yourself every hour and have a “picture check.” I wonder what I would catch myself doing some of the time…. 🙂
