Today, you’re four! That’s almost a whole hand of fingers. That’s so big.
You’re FOUR! You’re fabulous! You’re fastidious. You’re flourishing! I will admit, you’re a little finicky.
You can try my patience and warm my heart within 2 minutes. You’re very cautious, but also a leader. You have the quirkiest sense of humor, and a love for learning. You have a fantastic Spanish accent, and you’re a pro at princess makeup.
This past year, you have grown from a toddler into a big girl. It’s hard to think about you growing up, but it’s happening right before my eyes. This past year was a big year for you. You learned how to be the best big sister. You are potty trained (Can you teach Caroline? You threw me through the ringer with that one.). You’re still a jet setter, traveling by plane to Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and New England. You finally got into a swimming pool.
You are becoming so independent. You learn hard and love hard. I’m proud of the big girl you are becoming.
Even though you’re so big, you’re still my baby. I won’t forget those tiny hands and feet. I miss holding your tiny baby self in my arms, but I still hold you in my arms. That, Kennedy, is the greatest gift.
Singing you “Happy Birthday” moments after you were born will forever remain one of my favorite memories. Kennedy, you’re my everything. You made me a mama. Each December 17 is a celebration of not only you, but of how you gave Daddy and me a family.
I love you so much, goober butt. Happy birthday, my sweet Christmas angel.
