Preggo Meg O. – 38 Weeks!

Everyone… we are 11 DAYS from this baby’s birthday!

baby 2 38 weeks
Looking a little bit of the same. I feel like my face is starting to puff out a little, but my weight has stayed the same. Here I am 38 weeks pregnant with Kennedy, for reference.

Thoughts This Week:

  • Made it to the gym four times this week. I swear I am so not hardcore there. It’s the stationary bike and the treadmill for me. Better than walking outside and Kennedy gets to have her play time, too.
  • Having a lot of sciatic numbness in my right leg, especially if I stand up and start moving too fast.
  • I mentioned before that our scheduled c-section date is Tuesday, August 19. We were originally scheduled at 10:00 a.m., but got moved up to 6:30 a.m. Meaning we have to get there at 4:30 a.m. Ay yi yi.
  • We’ve brought the bassinet, rock and play, pack and play, and other newborn essentials downstairs and started setting them up. All of Kennedy’s old clothes from newborn to 12 months have been brought out and set into nursery #2.
  • We’ve also done a bit of organization throughout the house. The pantry, the junk drawers, etc. I’ve been nesting, for sure.
  • The nursery is very, very close to being finished! Crazy, because I felt like it would never get there.
  • I haven’t really felt any contractions (I don’t think) or have been in pain. Just uncomfortable at times.
  • This pregnancy has been really easy, and the end of it has felt much like my pregnancy with Kennedy. I really don’t think I’ll go into labor early. But now that I’ve said that I may have jinxed myself.
  • This is my second to last bump update. So crazy. So, so crazy.

Mamas who have had scheduled c-sections, I am curious as to whether or not you had a birth plan and what you requested. Is there anything I need to know or plan for going into it? I haven’t really thought much about it.

Happy Friday, friends!

  1. ELEVEN DAYS!? Holy cow. Yet at the same time….that’s so awesome!!!

Also. You might be 38 weeks but I’m 32w today and I think I’m the same size. Damn you! 😛

    1. Yes, I am slightly freaking out how close we are! It is sooooo surreal!!

Yeah I am pretty sure I’m bigger! I think the mirror and the iPhone are being very forgiving!!! LOL

    1. I wish that were do-able!! Having a 2.5 year old prevents things like that. Haha! Luckily my in-laws will be here on the 18th so hopefully we can at least go to bed early!

  2. You look gorgeous, mama! I cannot wait to meet your little one and follow along with your journey as a mama of two!

    1. Thank you so much, friend!! I can’t wait to meet her, too! I gotta admit, I’m kind of nervous about being a mom of two, but I did it before, so who says I can’t do it again!?

  3. I had a scheduled C-Section. The only birth plan I had was I asked them to bring the baby to me as soon as possible and I stressed that I didn’t want her to have anything but breast milk.

Can’t wait to see how it goes!

    1. Thank you for your comment!! I am definitely going to stress me being able to hold her as soon as possible. Last time, my hospital was awesome with letting me try and breastfeed right away. It didn’t go very well but they never pushed me to bottle feed. She got it later that day and had no problems our entire bf journey. I hope this next one will be as easy!!

  4. I had a second scheduled c-section and let me tell you how prepared my body was! Much easier the second time around…even with a 22 month old at home. Recovery was much quicker and less painful. Don’t be scared!
My only request was to have my catheter put in after my spinal/epidural. Turns out it was their order of operation anyway, but it was one of fears.
Yay for 38 weeks and being so close. Babies are amazing and so sweet! Can’t wait to see the update and pictures!

    1. So good to hear that the second c-section went way better for you. Last time I recovered from a 24-hour labor and a c-section, so anything is probably going to seem like a breeze! I hope all the working out and trying to stay healthy will help, as well. Last time was just a painful recovery for me. Good reminder about the catheter… I’m pretty sure mine will be after the epidural, but good to think about.

  5. Baby day is getting sooooo close!!! Can’t wait to “meet” her, pretty momma! 🙂

  6. OMG so close!!!! I can’t wait to see your pictures if her!!! So Finn was an emergency c section and I had a very very rough time with that c section and recovery… So then Clyde was scheduled and he came a month early so I barely made it to the hospital, eek! Also due to different reasons I wasn’t able to nurse either of them for their first meal… This time I was hoping for a drama free c section, And it totally was! I was able to go get prepped, and I even walked into the OR! It was so easy breezy I was fine the whole time, it was a little strange not having the endorphins of labor but it was so stress free the drs and nurses were just casually chatting with us haha! Then she was there and I went to recovery and they kept her with me the whole time and 30 mins later I was able to nurse 🙂 also I can’t get over how easy this recovery was!!! Bryan didn’t stay with me cause he was at home with the boys and I was able to sit up and get the baby myself in the hospital for day 1! I was up and walking around the next day and I was never that sore! You will do great especially since u have been working out! I was on a modified “bed rest” at the end to make sure she didn’t come early like Clyde so I was just sitting around at the end haha

    1. I’m so happy to hear that you had a drama free c-section and recovery has been super easy. I am hoping and praying that mine is very similar!! I really am not showing any signs of labor and I’m not trying to bring it on whatsoever! My last work out was last week and I decided this week I would take it easy so I wouldn’t put myself into labor. I’m just wanting to show up on Tuesday and have a baby. Haha. But yeah, I really hope my experience will be much like yours!!
