After having my hair long for quite some time, I ended up chopping off quite a bit about a year ago. I got myself a lob, aka a long bob. I let it grow, and then I cut it again a few weeks before Caroline was born. Sometimes, styling shorter hair can be tricky and it took me a while to perfect the blow out at home. In reality, it’s a lot easier than you think! I recently had the opportunity to try out some products from Conair, specifically the Infiniti Pro 3Q Brushless Motor Dryer, and thought it was the perfect opportunity to show you how I achieve one of my everyday looks. This works great on short and shoulder length hair!
Blow Out Supplies:
- Conair Infiniti Pro 3Q Brushless Motor Dryer
- Conair Velrco Rollers (and clips)
- Conair Velvet Touch Paddle Brush
- Conair Round Brush
- Your favorite styling cream/serum
- Root lifting spray
Towel dry hair, apply your favorite smoothing and style products, and run through your hair with the paddle brush. Then apply your root lifter and massage it into your roots.
Keep the nozzle on the blow dryer and then focus on drying the roots, getting hair about 85% dry. Pin half of it up, and start using the round brush to smooth out sections. Keeping the nozzle on the blow dryer is essential for this, because it minimizes frizz, and really helps shape the hair.
Take down the top half of your hair and dry with the round brush. Make sure your roots and hair are 100% dry. Start adding in velcro rollers to big sections of the hair. This is an awesome “blow out hack” to get lots of volume, lift, texture, and a little bend in the hair. On the top of the hair, use the large rollers to create volume, and on bottom you may have to use the smaller ones to fit your shorter hair. It doesn’t have to be super perfect. Obviously I missed a few hairs in the back there. Whoops. Take the blow dryer on low and heat up the rollers.
Give the rollers a bit of flexible hairspray, and wait ten minutes. Remove the velcro rollers carefully and then shake your hair out with your fingers. Take the paddle brush to the hair if you need to smooth it out, and finish up with some hairspray. You’re done!

I’ve really enjoyed using my Conair Infiniti Pro 3Q. It’s seriously professional quality, and can help you achieve lots of different looks. Believe it or not, you can actually pick it up at Walmart. Yep, you can wear your baby into that store and purchase an amazing professional blow dryer. So grab your baby (or whatever is closest to the resemblance of a baby – a husband or friend works, too, although I do not suggest wearing them) and head into Walmart to get you one. I’ve also got my eye on the Infiniti Pro Curl Secret. I’m a sucker for beauty gadgets! Totally on my Christmas list. Hint hint, family…
In the meantime, you can find me ooh-ing and aah-ing over my fancy new blow dryer.
How do you like to blow dry your hair? Shorter hair ladies, are there any tricks you swear by? For me, having the nozzle on the blow dryer and using the velcro rollers make all the difference!

Love this! I’ve been debating a ‘lob’ for awhile now and this may have convinced me 😉

I have LOVED having mine because when it grows out, it still looks good!

your hair looks gorgeous! I’ve been growing my hair out for a while – It’s the longest it’s ever been – but once summer hits I always want to chop it off! LOL

Thank you so much! I’m kind of the opposite – I am always having long hair in the summer!! I find that when it’s shorter, it does take a little more effort to style, but I love how it looks on me!

Great tutorial! When I had longer hair, I used the velcro rollers all the time. Now, I have a chin length bob and I just use a larger boar bristle brush to get lift, and it makes my hair super shiny! That blowdryer looks amazing, I will definitely add that to my Christmas list as well 🙂

You look so cute wearing sweet Caroline! I love this video….do you seriously do this everyday?
Meg O. says
Thank you so much! I usually blow out my hair once a week, and I do it at night. I try to go 2-3 days in between washes… one day I’ll blow out and the other days I’ll let it air dry and do lots of curls. 🙂

Such a great tutorial. I love the curler trick! I always have such a hard time balancing wanting my hair smooth but not flat. Thanks!

Now I know what to call my bob when I’m too lazy to get it cut. I’m just a few minutes away from going officially insane from letting my hair grow too long. 🙂
