7 Cheap Makeup Brands that are Actually Great Quality

Popular Houston beauty blogger Meg O. on the Go shares 7 cheap makeup brands that are actually great quality. Have you heard of any of these?

When it comes to cheap makeup brands, I am looking for a couple qualities before I dub them worthy of this list.

  • What’s the price point? I’m thinking brands with products under $10.
  • What are the variety of products offered? I want to feature brands that have a great selection of products.
  • Are the products consistently great within the brand? I’m not featuring a brand that has one standout product, but has a lot of great items worth picking up and is a consistent brand.

Let’s get right to it!

1. L.A. Girl

You hear people mostly talk about the L.A. Girl Pro Concealer (so good!), but they also have an incredible Pro Coverage Liquid Foundation and I’m obsessed with their Shady Slim Brow Pencil (probably my favorite drugstore eyebrow pencil). This has made me a fan and I really want to try everything! All of their products have good reviews and there doesn’t seem to be a dud.

2. Wet ‘n Wild

Out of all the brands we’re talking about today, this is the one I love the most! Wet ‘n Wild definitely made a comeback within the last 7 or so years, and they are constantly putting out great quality products. Some of my favorites are the Photo Focus Foundation (seriously soooo good), Photo Focus Concealer, their Eyeshadow 10 Pan Palettes (best drugstore eyeshadow quality), Contour Palette, Highlighting Powder (Precious Petals is my favorite shade), and the Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick.

3. Makeup Revolution

Makeup Revolution is kind of known for releasing a lot of “dupe” products. They have been accused of copying popular products. It doesn’t really bother me, because beauty should be accessible to all. Some people just can’t afford the items at a bigger price tag. I will say, though, as a whole, Makeup Revolution impresses me. I love their Rose Gold Ultra Professional Blush Palette, the New-trals vs. Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette, and their Vivid Baked Highlighters. I’ve read the Conceal & Define Full Coverage Concealer is a good Shape Tape dupe, and they just launched the Emily Edit Eyeshadow palette in collaboration with EmilyNoel83 on YouTube!

4. Essence Cosmetics

Essence Cosmetics is an extremely affordable brand with a cult following! Out of all the brands in this post, they have a smaller line of products and no foundation or concealers. However, they are totally worth checking out!  Their Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara is a great Benefit Gimme Brow dupe, the Pure Nude Highlighter is a subtle “lit-from-within” gorgeous glow, the I Love Extreme Volume Mascara is awesome, and the Satin Touch Blush is my favorite product from the line.

5. BH Cosmetics

I’ve been a big fan of BH Cosmetics for a while. They have such a great selection of affordable palettes and makeup brushes, and have really stepped up their quality over the years. My favorite product of theirs is the Spotlight Highlight 6 Color Palette – I swear it is an Anastasia Glow Kit dupe! Other products worth picking up are the Total Coverage Concealer, Studio Pro Contour Palette, and the Crystal Quartz Brush Set (their brush sets are typically great quality so don’t skip on one)!

6. ColourPop Cosmetics

I know a lot of people are huge ColourPop fans, but I couldn’t do this post without mentioning this brand. I love literally everything they release, and they are extremely affordable. This is totally tied with Wet ‘n Wild as my favorite affordable makeup brand. I have lost count of how many lipsticks I own. They have a bigger selection on their website, but I try to purchase their products from Ulta as much as I can, so I can get points. Definitely try the Ultra Matte Lip, Super Shock Shadow, Super Shock Highlighter, Brow Boss Pencil, and Ultra Glossy Lip. I’ve found that their eyeshadow palettes are also incredible quality, too! I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m dying to pick up the Dream Street Palette.

7. Karity

Karity is an indie makeup brand that you can find only on their website. They are committed to carrying quality products at an affordable price. I love their story on how they are self-funded and want to keep their prices low. My favorite product of theirs is the Lip Lock liquid lipsticks (Sugary Sweet is my favorite shade – the perfect nude), and they also have gorgeous eyeshadow palettes. I just got the Rose all Day palette in the mail recently, and the 21 Shadow in Matte is a stunning bold palette. Don’t sleep on this brand – such great products!

  1. Hi, Meg! Love your blog. I feel there is one obvious line missing from the cheap makeup post…what about NYX?

    1. There are SO many makeup brands I love that are affordable! NYX and Physicians Formula are two that immediately come to mind, but I was trying to think of underrated brands that have a wide selection of products under $10. If we were to talk about all of my favorite affordable brands the list would be much longer!! Thank you so much for reading my blog!
