Tips to Perfect Liquid Lipstick

One thing that can be hard to master in makeup is liquid lipstick. It’s pretty daunting and easy to mess up if you aren’t careful. A liquid formula paired with a super dark, vampy lip can be intimidating, but the end result is worth it. I absolutely love deep, dark lip colors for fall, and they are very much on trend.

Tips to Perfect Liquid Lipstick

Exfoliate beforehand. Make sure to scrub those lips, because a matte liquid lipstick can cling to dry patches. Immediately after, apply a moisturizing balm as you do the rest of your makeup. Before applying your lipstick, blot the balm away.

Line your lips. Skipping a lip liner will make you extra prone to mistakes. Very carefully line your lips and fill them in with the liner. You can even choose a lip liner that is a shade or two darker than your lipstick, and it will give you even more of a contoured look to your lips.

Don’t be scared. With your liquid lipstick, carefully start on the bottom lip and apply in small sections. Press the lips together as you go. Your lip liner is acting as a barrier, so all you have to do is “color in the lines”!

Carve it out with some concealer. I love this trick! I take a flat definer brush with a little bit of concealer on it and drag it along the lines of my mouth. It really defines and sharpens up your lipstick, and looks especially great with darker colors.
