Favorite Trader Joe’s Items

I feel like I am super late to the Trader Joe’s game, seeing as how one opened up in Houston only two years ago or so. However, it is one of my favorite places to shop for unique food items at a great price. Okay, if I’m being completely honest, I’m sort of obsessed. It’s just a fun experience! From the quirky packaging, fun hand-painted signs, friendly employees, and product selection, I just enjoy going there every chance I get. Before we visited Trader Joe’s for the first time, I reached out on social media to ask my friends and followers what I should get. I got a lot of awesome advice. Ever since then, we know pretty much exactly what we want when we go. We plan our trips out and always look forward to picking up our favorite Trader Joe’s items!

Today I’ve put together a little list of my favorite Trader Joe’s items. There are so many more things that we love, so I tried to narrow it down to my most favorite things ever.

Favorite Trader Joe's Items

Coconut Oil Spray: I haven’t been able to find coconut oil in spray form in my local grocery stores, and this is so darn useful for cooking. We use it all the time!

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups: Holy moly, how can I even explain how good these are?! Let’s just say they have lasted a hot minute in our house.

Cookie Butter: I finally picked this up on our most recent trip and the hype is true. This stuff is indescribable and amazing. Just go get some.

Green Tea Mochi: This mysterious pastry / ice cream is so delicious! I kept hearing so many people talk about the mochi at Trader Joe’s and they really are worth picking up. They have them in strawberry and chocolate, too.

Two Buck Chuck: The wine is actually $3, but it’s great quality and we love to have some on hand in case we have guests over. Not like I can participate right now (#preggoproblems).

Frozen Vanilla Fat Free Greek Yogurt: We inhale ice cream around our house, so we pick up at least two. This stuff is tart and delicious and really refreshing. We love it better than any frozen Greek yogurt we’ve found in a regular grocery store.

Cold Brewed Coffee Concentrate: I just picked this up for the first time recently and I can’t even explain how much I love it for summer time. It’s a little expensive ($7.99) but I figure it is less than hitting up Starbucks frequently. I love mixing it with water, half and half, sweetener (I use liquid stevia), and ice. Perfect iced coffee!

Chocolate Covered Bananas: Oh dear goodness, how incredible are these? They are frozen banana slices covered in chocolate. You keep them in the freezer. They seriously are addicting.

Dried Mango: It’s really hard to find dried mango that isn’t covered in sugar. Or tastes like it came from the Philippines. This is the closest we’ve found.

Hass Avocados: I know this is kind of a random pick, but Trader Joe’s has the cheapest Hass avocados! They’re $3.99 for a bag of 5. At our regular grocery store, we usually pay at least $1 per Hass avocado.

So, y’all. I need you to tell me all of your favorite Trader Joe’s Items, because mama plans on making a bunch of trips there over the summer. I need to try all of your favorites!

    1. I’m seriously addicted to the cold brew now. #spoiled

  1. Well that coffee really makes me want to head to Trader Joes soon! I also really want to try their cookie dough dip stuff!

  2. John does most of the grocery shopping, so I don’t get out that often. We did stop by Trader Joe’s this weekend, though. I picked up some of their roasted and lightly salted pumpkin seeds for a snack. Very fresh tasting. My friend Holly does most of her shopping there, and she shared a bottle of tempranillo there that was lovely and $4. She also used their enchilada sauce over stuffed red bell peppers, and it was so good I’m going to make John get some and copy cat it.

    1. I’m gonna look for that enchilada sauce next time! Sounds yummy!

  3. I’ve been wanting the cold brew but I didn’t want to waste $8 on it. Glad to hear a good rec! I love their flowers. I love so many things, ya ready? The reduced guilt guacamole (made with greek yogurt), cilantro jalapeno hummus, cocoa almond spread, frozen orange chicken, frozen almond croissants, and frozen garlic naan. There’s probably more but I haven’t finished my first cup of coffee yet. I was contemplating going there at lunch and I think you sealed the deal.

    1. Haha I’m glad I could inspire a TJ’s trip. I am so adding your suggestions to my list to pick up next time!!

  4. I love trader joes. There is a mocha that they sell, it’s in a blue can. I LOVE IT, I had one this morning.

  5. I have never been to trader joes! I might need to just for the dark chocolate peanut butter cups!

    1. Oh you need to go!!! And it’s totally worth it just for the dark chocolate pb cups!! Haha

  6. I wish I had a TJs close by! Everyone always raves about it, and I just sit here pouting haha!

    1. Oh dear, I feel your pain. It was torture waiting for one to open up close to me, and it’s still a good 40 min away!

  7. Where to start…haha The dark chocolate covered pretzel crisps are amazing. Every frozen meal I’ve tried I’ve liked (& I’m weird about frozen foods) – the pesto tortellini and baked ziti, in particular. The whole wheat waffles. Their tomato basil marinara. I could keep going =)

    1. Yes, we’ve gotten the pretzels before and they’re awesome!!! Def adding the other items to my list 🙂

  8. I have been dying for the dark chocolate peanut butter cups since you posted the picture on Instagram the other day! Those sound AMAZING!!!

  9. Most of their frozen meals are great! (We ate them A LOT when I was pregnant and didn’t want to cook!) I buy the wine by the case. I get their K cups, white cheddar popcorn, ginger snaps (OMG), raw almonds, coconut oil, apple cider (in the fall), goat cheese (so cheap!), and crumpets. They need to open one closer soon. When I do a big trip for food, I have to take a cooler with me!

    1. I need to figure out which frozen meals I want to get next time I go. OMG I need goat cheese in my life. And yes, I loooove their ginger snaps! We should plan an outing there on your day off and stock up!

  10. Love Trader Joe’s!! It really is a fun experience. LOL at the Hass avacado deal… 3.99 for a bag of four is still $1 each. 🙂

    1. LOL omg #pregnancybrain. I totally mis-typed that. They’re $5 for $3.99! I am so smartz

  11. Agree with your list. I’m also in love with their dark chocolate covered raisins and almonds. A couple of other favorites are the frozen Bird’s Nests, flat bread pizza with ham and cheese, Gorgonzola gnocci, and the Mediterranean dip. My kids enjoy the turkey corn dogs, peanut/chocolate granola bars, brownie oat bars, and kettle corn. So much more I could list. Love all of the items others mentioned too.

    1. Flatbread pizza, gorgonzola gnocchi, and Mediterranean dip?! Dude those are totally going on my list for the next trip! But yes, I do love the chocolate covered snacks!!

  12. If you love Mediterranean food, get the dolmas in a can, omg are they out of this world!! We love trade joes and have never come across a bad product, love the employees too! Oh the soft pretzel rolls for. 99 are super tasty too!

    1. Oh we are Mediterranean food lovers for sure! My hubby is half Lebanese so it’s part of the marriage. lol! I am putting the dolmas on my list for next trip! I LOVE stuffed grape leaves! I’ve never tried the soft pretzel rolls!!! That sounds amazing!

  13. We are hooked on the cookie butter and the cold coffee! But I definitely need to try the cooking spray! Thanks for the tip Meg!

    1. Yes, pick up some of that coconut oil spray! I seriously can’t get enough of that cookie butter right now. OMG. Hope you and little Dutch are doing well, fabulous mama!!

  14. I MISS TRADER JOE’S SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I’m ashamed to say I have never tried Cookie Butter. I was always too afraid I’d get Nutella-addicted to it….i.e. I’d end up eating it straight out of the jar with my fingers in just two sittings. Also, I’d kill for a $1 avocado right now. I whooped for joy the other day when I found a bag of five for $6. They’re usually $4 A PIECE!!

    1. OMG the cookie butter… I just can’t even explain it. I may have stuck my finger in it multiple times…..And $4 FOR AN AVOCADO!?!?!?!? THAT IS BLASPHEMY!!!!

  15. Lisa Blazek says:

Matcha Green Tea Latte (swirl in blender w/ milk, frozen banana and ice), frozen Jasmine, Brown, and Multigrain Rice, Edamame Hummus, Island Soyaki, Roasted coconut chips. Order the “Cooking with All Things Trader Joe’s ” cookbook, it has good recipes made from their best products.

  16. We just had another Trader Joe’s grand opening near us (only the second in Austin), so I wish I would have seen this list earlier. I eyed up the cold coffee but ended up passing it over. Now the wine, that I can get behind! Any beauty products you like from TJ’s?

    1. You know, I actually haven’t tried any beauty products from TJ’s! Their selection is so small and I somehow always overlook it. I do hear the coconut body butter and the tea tree oil cleansing pads are good, though! I need to make a point to stop and actually look the next time I’m there.

  17. Thanks for sharing your list! I must add dark chocolate covered almonds with sea salt, the small chocolate chip cookies in the round plastic tub, cheese fondue, frozen crab cakes, and frozen Mac and cheese. I could live on these items alone they are so good.
