The Best Apps for Bloggers

Like many business owners, us bloggers tend to do a lot of work from our phones. I can’t be at a computer 24/7 (although sometimes it feels like I am!), so relying on apps has really helped me a lot with productivity. I have a whole folder of my “blogging” apps on my phone and trust me, I’ve tried so many. Today I am going to share my favorites with you guys!

I’m not going to focus on photo editing or social media apps (because yes, I love Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and YouTube), but apps that help with productivity and managing your blog and social media. I know there are tons of photo editing app blog posts, so I don’t plan to share my Instagram process, unless you guys really want me to.

Anyway, let’s get back to the apps. My faves. My ride or dies. Whatever you’d like to call them.

The Best Apps for Bloggers - these apps are great tools for productivity and for managing your blog and social media!

WordPress

The WordPress app is great for some post editing and comment responding when you can’t get to a computer. I know that there is a Blogger app, as well, although I do not know anything about it. I mostly use the WordPress app to edit a post if there are typos (sometimes writing at midnight will do that to ya!), fix a link, respond to comments, or look at site stats. For me, it’s worth having on my phone, even if I do not use it all the time.

Buffer

I love using the web version of Buffer, especially for Twitter. I have to admit – I wish Twitter was like how it used to be, but I still find it a useful platform so I am trying to be more intentional with it. Twitter is a great place to share tons and tons of content, and I am trying to up my Twitter game. Buffer is a great way to schedule tweets and have them go out without overwhelming the feed. I like to “top it up” with tweets and it will send them out throughout the day. I recently downloaded the Buffer App, and I like using it to look at my tweet schedule or add something else to it if I’m on the fly. You can also connect Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest, but I don’t really utilize it for that.

IF by IFTTT

Now, folks. The IF by IFTTT app is so stinking cool. It pairs perfectly with their website. The premise of this site is to set up “recipes” that run when something happens. For example, if I post to Instagram, then the photo will post to Twitter as a twitpic with a link to the original Instagram post beneath it. Here’s an example of what it looks like. I also have it save my Instagram photos to a folder on Google Drive, post tweets when I upload a YouTube video, and even notify me of the weather at 7 am! The “recipes” are seriously endless and I learn something new all the time with IFTTT!

Quicklytics

This is, by far, the best Google Analytics app for mobile. Quicklytics is a paid app, but was the best money I’ve spent for an easy way to look at my stats. This comes as a recommendation from my friend, Sarah. Quicklytics gives me the best snapshot of what’s happening on my blog at any given moment. It is simple to understand, and far easier to understand than logging onto Google Analytics. There are tons of Google Analytics apps out there – don’t waste your time, just get this one.

Feedly

Feedly is my preferred way to read blogs. I like using the Feedly app to catch up if I have time to do some blog reading on my phone. It works pretty well with clicking over to leave comments. The app is designed simply and does what I need it to do. I have no complaints!

Latergramme

I love using Latergramme for scheduling Instagram posts. I do not usually schedule my Instagram posts, but if I am participating in a giveaway or if I have something that is time sensitive, I always utilize this app. I particularly like using the website if I want to upload a photo directly from my computer, and then I will see it on my phone if I open up the app. Totally awesome.

Crowdfire

I use Crowdfire to manage my followers on Instagram and Twitter. I know many of us use these apps to see who follows and unfollows us, and sometimes that game can get annoying. But I do like using it as a tool to unfollow accounts that have since been deactivated, or block people that look spammy. I also try and use it to grow my account and discover new people by looking at the followers of accounts I love. I don’t spend tons and tons of time on it, but it’s a great app to use when I notice changes in my followings and want to see what happened.

Google Drive

I do so much in Google Drive, both in my personal and blog life. I have my income tracker there, media kit, rates sheet, images, spreadsheets, giveaway stuff, etc. The Google Drive app has been helpful in a pinch when I can’t get to my computer and need to look something up, or maybe send my media kit along to someone. I also like to share photos with it, along with Dropbox (second runner up in this list).

The Best Apps for Bloggers - these apps are great tools for productivity and for managing your blog and social media!

A few of these I’ve never heard of. I’m heading to check them out. The blogger app is not the greatest. It doesn’t sound anything like the WordPress app. All you can do is create a new post but it is very very basic. Always need to go back to the computer to fix it up!

Darn, that stinks the blogger app is not that great! Granted, I don’t do any post writing with the WP app, but it’s nice to have to edit if I need to. Glad to help!!

This is a great post! Except for WordPress, I’ve never heard of the other apps. I do everything on my phone (which is annoying), so I’ll definitely be checking these out! Thanks!

I just started using IFTTT and it is my favorite blogging app to date. I’m about to jump on the Feedly app, Bloglovin’ is just not my favorite way to go about reading blogs.

IFTTT is the best!!! Also, Feedly is way better than Bloglovin’ in my opinion. I still use it from time to time, but feedly is so much easier to use.

Yes, yes, yes! I’ve been searching for some new blog-boosting apps. I use many of these and love them. However, I did see a couple new ones that I’m going to have to download. I would also recommend checking out Pocket. It’s a great way to save articles that you want to read or share later from other blogs you love.

Great list Meg! I love the WP app. I use it a lot to start drafts when I come up with ideas on the fly. And Latergramme as well. All really good picks!
